Love these meta sletters. Your words about the State of Shopping have stayed with me, I even have that sletter bookmarked for easy access for when I feel myself sliding down a copping vortex, has truly helped me curb those anxiety/boredom driven urges. Thank you both x
I’ve been casually peepin’ ur ‘sletters for a couple months now, but this no-affiliate manifesto hit me hard, so I hit that ‘scribe button.
Integrity is hard to come by in our post truth internet soup. Thanks for what you do.
If you’re not already going to first Fridays at Hammerling in West Berkeley. check it out! Some real good peeps there slanging food and low-intervention wines.
Been thinking about signing up for a while and finally smashed that subscribe button after reading this. Interested to see if you ever cover clothes for big and tall guys.
I'm 6'4" 225 and was semi-recently very much heavier. I'm also basically shaped like a giant eggplant. So not, like, easy to fit.
What I've found is that the huge pant/billowy shirt era is amazing for bigger dudes. They're harder to find, but most of the brands they're already talking about make something that'll fit. Our Legacy, Casey Casey, Evan Kinori, and man-tle all make XL versions of their shirts that are big and more importantly get bigger at the bottom.
My personal favorite, Tender, make some truly gigantic shirts though the styling is a little more niche and they're harder to find.
Big Bud Press makes pants and work jackets in like up to 8x. And eBay Ralph Lauren button-ups and Levi's 550s are available in lots of larger sizes.
You didn't ask and I obviously don't know how big and/or tall you are, so I apologize for the unsolicited recs. And these are obviously not groundbreaking, but for the first time in a while I feel like us bigger folks can just go out and buy what everyone else is buying.
what's up chris & welcome -- it's something i tend to ask about in conversations w/ big & tall guys, i.e. the interviews with them jeans, eric wareheim and probably matty matheson although we might have just talked about how much he loves motorcycles haha
Thanks Plane gang for keeping it real as always and helping us toe the line between cultivating a dope vibe and resisting the spells of e-commercism. Ready to run through a brick wall after that 'sletter
