Thank u for conducting this interview and sharing. I've been in a creative dump lately, and this is a nice 'awakening' moment.
My reaction to learning about Laraaji and hearing his music: Creativity and expression can happen in many forms. But importantly, it's a 'wave' - ebbing, flowing, changing.
Much like earthquakes, waves will break apart rigid and inflexible structures. To be a part of the wave, you have to go with a flow. If you want to be creative, your mind can't be rigid.
I admire how Laraaji is not afraid to express his creativity in different 'wayves', using puppets or non-structured music. Very cool story.
Gave "Kalimba" a listen before starting to read the interview... A crazy crazy morning just turned into the "stop and smell the flowers" moment i needed today!!! And then reading the interview... Laraaji is pure great vibes. Thanks guys!!!
Once again proving your invaluable contributions to cultural discourse and celebrating the GOATs of the world. Laraaji is a national treasure and one of the reasons NYC will always rule the school.
beautiful interview, listening to the music and reading it at the same time, I feel sooo much more calm right now
