Re photographing the Troubles, you may be interested in the amazing work of Japanese war photographer Akihiko Okamura, who photographed Ireland extensively in the late 1960s and 70s. https://akihiko-okamura.ie/

EBay getting flooded with Memphistos. Buncha kids raiding their parents and grand parents closets putting them things up for some quick cash.

Since you mention Jacoform, might be interesting for some duck-toed friends to know that the brand is going out of business. The German website is running a 50% off Räumungsverkauf to stock up here: https://jacoform.de/

I'd giving anything for more recon on rain jackets. Otherwise, when the master shields get released again, you're gonna have to add a triplet to this twin party.

would be cool to see a spyplane interview some day with the mephisto king, Chase Hall

Loved the Irish bar discourse, Mcsorleys is right there too! I’m a huge fan of Peter McManus, fish market would be a decent alternative if you want some good Malaysian food instead of supporting ulster ahh Byrnes, get to fish market early tho cuz it gets packed.

Anyone have any insight into how the Mephisto Match fits?

Kevin's avatar

Size down 0.5

For what it’s worth, I have wide feet and I am typically a 10 US. 9.5 in the Match fits like a dream!

Max Bronner's avatar

That helps a ton. I’m a 10 and went with a 9.5 also

A little q for Jonah and Erin and also the Spyplane friends: what are your feelings about a couple wearing matching or very similar outfits? It’s a phenomenon I see a lot in London and always think it looks a little bit I don’t know: slightly sickening? Not sure why? Genuinely interested in other people’s thoughts. V interested to hear from the couples that have a state of zen about matching with their partner. My partner can’t even tolerate it when we have the same types of colours on (eg, blue jeans, cream top, which makes it difficult sometimes 😅)

Identical uniforms is obviously off putting… with siblings, too. I’ve never really thought much about why or interrogated my aversion to it.

Erin and I some days do find ourselves inadvertently doing the broad matching type thing you’re describing (similar type of jacket or same colored pants etc) and we often let it rock but if it really feels over the top one of us might change 😂

But consider this powerful counterpoint on siblings matching:

Thank you for your thoughts:), think there are different levels of matching and also different levels of aversion to it!

Feels worse somehow when it’s a (seemingly) heterosexual couple??
