Super dope article. I really love music and I use to think jazz music was for old people or was kinda boring when I was a kid and I never listened to it. Being older now, it's one of my favorite genres of music. I love how "ugly" or experimental it can get because it seems so innovative to me now. Just took me a while to expand my taste to truly appreciate the genre

This also really really made me think of this new Elvis Costello song that released last year! One of the funkiest, weirdest songs I've heard. It's got this disconnected, clashing bass and rhythm sound that makes the song feel wrong but somehow I've been coming back to it. Costello's vocal layering makes it slap as if it's old-school rock and I have to admit that I had to get very high to feel it all mesh but somehow, it became one of the vibiest jams I listened to all last year. Thought I'd share as it definitely is on some ugly/genius matrix!!
