King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - The Dripping Tap, 18 min plus (preferably a live version). Melts my mind. So much of their catalogue slays at great length.
So so happy you didn't overlook the long song genre king that is stoner / doom metal. If listeners and Spyplane nation enjoys heavy music, please check out Mirror Reaper by Bell Witch. It's a single song album (80 minutes) that serves as the magnum opus and eulogy for the band's late drummer Adrian. It has literally brought tears to my eyes in its deep somber and profound nature. It is the pinnacle of the genre and one of the few albums I consider perfect.
A great anecdote is that I saw Sleep and Bell Witch on 4/20 in Seattle many moons ago. Bell Witch played a single song opener and the sound guy fell asleep on the console.
Have y’all heard of The Disintegration Loops by William Basinski? Four albums with “tape loop recordings played for extended time, with noise and cracks increasing as the tape deteriorated.” Listening my way through them now.
does the Funkmaster Flex premiere of Otis count 😂
Van Morrison: Summertime in England, 15:39.
Panda Bear : Bros tracking 12:30 🫠🫠niiiiiiice nice.
I'm late to the party here, but...
Jim O'Rourke—94 the Long Way (13:57) and really the whole Bad Timing EP is nothing but long songs; shortest one is 9:38
A few songs to add to the list
